Year 5 have worked really hard writing holiday brochures about Greece. We looked at the geography and climate of Greece ready to move on to our topic of Ancient Greece next half term. We have a super hook into this topic, revealed later. Also, this week we have looked at cinquains and have written our own. Pupils have enjoyed these because they are short, simple AND they don’t have to rhyme! Cinquains have five lines, after the French for cinq, and are shaped like a diamond. This is because of the syllable pattern of the poem which is 2,4,6,8,2. We wrote one about chocolate together which was really easy because who doesn’t love chocolate! In science we have been finding out about the properties of materials and enjoyed investigating thermal insulators and separating mixtures. Lots of active learning!
