Year 6 World War 2 Day

Yesterday Year 6 were taken back in time! As an end to their current learning about World War 2 children were asked to dress up as evacuees. The children learnt all about food rationing and trying out a genuine wartime recipe – carrot cookies. They found out what ‘make do and mend’ was all about and had a go at rag rugging.
During the afternoon our Griffins explored espionage by learning about Alan Turings Enigma machine and created their own code breakers to crack the coded messages in the classroom.
