Laura Bassett Shield Football Competition

The penultimate games of the annual Laura Bassett Shield football competition were played this week. Girls and Boys football teams from Years 3-6 play each other during the year to decide the overall winner and on Monday 21st May, the Year 6 boys and girls met for their games. As is tradition for Year 6, the games take place during the day with pupils from the host school who are not playing, spectating and hosting the away team by providing drinks and biscuits. The games were both incredibly tight and moved from end to end without anyone being able to find the back of the net. At half time both games were 0-0! In the second half, Park Lane opened the scoring in the girls game before Race Leys equalised and this finished 1-1. The boys played out a goalless draw meaning that the tournament score is now Park Lane 7pts, Race Leys 3pts with 2 games and 4 points remaining. If you would like to sponsor a small year group shield or trophy to be awarded each year, please get in touch.
