Laura Bassett Shield football competition

Race Leys continued their annual Laura Bassett Shield football competition v Park Lane this week. Girls and Boys football teams from Years 3-6 play each other during the year to decide the overall winner and on Monday 14th May, the Year 5 boys and girls met for their games. As is tradition for this tournament, some of the children were representing the school for the first time and the focus is on the spirit of the game which was wonderfully evident throughout. The girls team were outstanding and ended up winning 12-0 which is the biggest margin in the history of the competition. The boys were involved in an excellent game but unfortunately lost 6-4 in the end meaning Park Lane lead the tournament 6pts-2pts. If you would like to sponsor a small year group shield or trophy to be awarded each year, please get in touch.
